What time does school begin? HideA.
Students arriving after 8:15am may wait for their teacher at the door of their classroom.The bell rings at 8:50am. Students arriving after that time are marked tardy.

Is there before and/or after school care? HideA.
Yes, St Joan of Arc School offers an Extended Day Program, which begins at 7:00am and is open through 8:15am (when students are dismissed to wait outside their classroom), and also from 3:15pm dismissal until 6:00pm. The Extended Day Program is not available at dismissal for students enrolled in the Half-Day Kindergarten program; and the Extended Day Program does not operate at dismissal on scheduled half-days and on snow days.Registration forms for the Extended Day Program are required, and may be obtained from the school office along with the Extended Day Program payment schedule.

What should I do if my child is absent? HideA.
Please call the school office (412.833.2433) each morning your child is absent. Upon return to school, please send a written excuse to your child's teacher.Q.
Are uniforms required? HideA.
Yes, your student must wear clothes that conform to the St Joan of Arc School Dress Code. School uniform items are available from Schoolbelles by mailorder, online order, and annual school sale, and may also be picked up at their Ross Park Mall location. Many uniform items (excluding logo and tartan items) may also be purchased from regular retail stores such as Kohls, JC Penney, and Wal-Mart. In addition, volunteers maintain a selection of gently-used uniforms at the school; for more information on the Uniform Exchange, please contact the school office.Please mark all clothes, especially outerwear such as jackets and sweatshirts, with your child's name.

How is tuition paid? HideA.
Tuition may be paid in advance of the school year, or monthly (except June and July) via the FACTS Tuition Management Program.Q.
Where can I get information in case of inclement weather? HideA.
If it should be necessary to close the school due to weather conditions, the announcement will be made over the local radio and television stations as well as local television web sites and this web site. In the event that St. Joan of Arc School is closed, the preschool will be closed. If school is delayed, the preschool will be operating with the modified schedule which is 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.Kindergarten

What time is lunch for Full-Day Kindergarten students? HideA.
The Kindergarten class eats during the first lunch period, which begins at 12:00pm. Students eat lunch upstairs in the Multi-Purpose Room along with the Primary Level students.Q.
Do Full-Day Kindergarten students have recess? HideA.
Yes, all students eating during the first lunch period have recess before lunch. Students go outside for recess unless there is inclement weather.Q.
Is there a rest period for the Kindergarten class? HideA.
Yes, Full-Day Kindergarten students have a quiet time after recess.Q.
Do the students have a snack? HideA.
Yes, Full-Day Kindergarten students have an afternoon snack period.Q.
What time is dismissal for Half-Day Kindergarten? HideA.
Dismissal is at 11:20am.Students who reside in the South Park School District are afforded the opportunity to be bused home. Please indicate on your Registration Form if you would like information for Half-Day busing.

What time is dismissal for Full-Day Kindergarten? HideA.
The afternoon dismissal bell rings at 3:00pm to prepare to go home. Students who will be picked up are dismissed at the front door of the church. Students riding buses are called as their bus arrives; these students are dismissed through the front door of the school.Q.
How much is the Kindergarten Tuition? HideA.
Half Day Kindergarten is $1980 yearly and Full Day Kindergarten is $2975 yearly.Q.

Yes, a registration fee is due at registration. Details may be found on the Registration Instructions page, or by calling the school office.Q.
What documentation is needed for registration? HideA.
An original birth certificate, original baptismal certificate, up-to-date health history and immunization record, and social security number are required. In addition, physical and dental exam verification forms must be completed by your physician and dentist and submitted.Q.

Your child must be five years old by September 1 in order to register for Kindergarten at St Joan of Arc School.Preschool

Your child's original birth certificate, social security card, baptismal certificate and an up to date immunization record are needed at time of registration. Original documents will be copied and returned to you immediately.Q.
Is there a registration fee? HideA.
Yes, a $30.00 non-refundable registration fee is required at time of registration.Q.
When is the preschool registration for the 2008 - 2009 school year? HideA.
Preschool registration begins for SJA School families and parishioners on Monday January 28, 2008 with open registration beginning on Thursday January 31, 2008.Registration is between 9:30 am and 2:30 pm each day.
